How to Organize Your Life for Productivity and Success in 5 Steps

by Kae Jones on May 20, 2024

“I just want to get things done!"

"I feel like I am drowning in my thoughts”

These thoughts are more common than some may think, and if this one sounds familiar, I'm glad you found my blog! If I had a dollar for every time similar thoughts plagued me, I would be swimming in cash! I am Kae, a recovering Extreme Procrastinator and ADHD sufferer. After losing my job and isolation with God 7 months ago, I decided to transform my entire life by treating it like a business. Now I share tips to help other women avoid the procrastinator pits of despair I often found myself in and make money online. Here are the first steps I used to revamp my life with planning and organizing, to conquer ADHD and procrastination for success.

Step 1: Trust God with Your Life

As I embarked on my transformational journey, I leaned heavily on my faith. Depression served as a ‘Check Engine Light’, and I knew my programming, lifestyle, and version of myself had overstayed its welcome. With mind-boggling questions like Who am I?, What is next, and more, my daily devotion, prayer, meditation, and journaling became my anchors. These daily practices helped me stay grounded and focused amidst the chaos of change. My faith became my new foundation.

Step 2: Mindset Matters:

I set my intentions, and then paid them some attention! I was intentional in developing a positive mindset because I accepted the idea of only focusing on the things I could change, to reshape my reality. My thoughts, actions, and energy were my focus, and i trusted God for everything else. Establishing my morals and values provided clarity and direction, guiding me away from old habits and towards a new way of living. Once I established who I wanted to be and the lifestyle I wanted, shedding away the old me suddenly became much easier. I cut off all people, places, things, and habits that did not align with my new path and God’s word. Identifying and mourning areas of old comfort while creating new healthy habits, began to exist simultaneously without feeling like I was spiraling. I believed that all things were possible with God's strength, and you should too!

Step 3: Get Organized

The quintessential area of my transformation was the concept of treating my life like a business. Just as a successful business requires careful planning and organization, so does a fulfilling lifestyle. Operations is a major role in every household, because it requires routine tasks to keep things running smoothly. I highlighted areas that work well, so I could model those habits and behaviors more intentionally. I also identified areas that needed the most attention and work, such as Planning, Time Management, and Task Management.

The more I studied my symptoms, I realized I was Neurodivergent and struggled with ADHD, not lazy. I immediately researched new processes and procedures others were using to improve . One of my favorites became the habit of planning. With a clear outline, I began crafting my Lifestyle ADHD Planner and daily schedule, tailored to my needs and goals. Through trial and error, I created ways of scheduling and planning my life hourly, daily, monthly, and yearly for increased productivity and success.

Step 4: Divide Your Life into Departments

I divided my life into these categories; Mental Health, Self-Care, Education and Work, Housework and Gardening, Administration, Children Homeschooling and Activities, and so forth. I wrote a list of all tasks that had to be completed weekly, and monthly, then i broke those larger tasks down into smaller ones i could complete daily to help reach my weekly and monthly goals. This is how i created my Daily Planner Template. Having a clear and concise page that shows you what to do and when to do it daily was just the structure i needed. I quickly realized even on days when unexpected things popped up, i could swiftly shuffle around my tasks and stay on track to accomplish my daily to-do list with ease.

Step 5: Organization Boosts Productivity

Organizing and Planning also helped me develop better Time and Task Management habits. A huge rule I learned about financial success was knowing the value of every minute and penny. Managing my time and tasks effectively became paramount. I meticulously tracked where my resources of time and energy were being spent. The results were horrifying! My lack of organization, planning, discipline, and consistency directly affected my productivity! Who knew?!

Many days I spent way too much time on minor tasks and not enough time ( or any ) on other tasks. This analysis allowed me to prioritize activities that aligned with my vision for success while cutting out distractions and inefficiencies. I also implemented tricks like time blocking and timing tasks to maintain my schedule and complete more tasks efficiently. I now had time for fitness, self-care, and more! Organizing my life has given me the ability to birth a whole new conscious lifestyle for myself with increased mental health, physical health, and wealth.
